THE POLYGUARD DISCOVERY

Goal:

To design a polymer burial vault as strong as a concrete burial vault.

First Objective:

To dermine the strength of a concrete burial vault. This was achieved by taking a concrete burial vault to an independent testing lab and performing a load bearing test to determine the total weight bearing capability of the concrete vault. See the test results here.

Second Objective:

To design a polymer vault that will match or exceed the concrete burial vault in overall strength. A polymer structural engineeriing team went to work to design a polymer burial vault that would equal or exceed the strength test results of the concrete burial vault.

By using computer-aided design and polymer structural engineered computer simulation, the concrete test results were reverse engineered to produce a polymer burial vault that rivals concrete in actual load bearing capability.
